Our first stop on day 6 was the Ku`emanu Heiau which was dedicated to the surfing gods. The Gods seemed happy since the winds were carving up waves that drew a number of surfers that were taking advantage of it this morning. Next was Kona Boys surf shop where we picked up our tandem kayaks and landing permits for Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park. By early afternoon, we had paddled across Kealakekua bay and were swimming among thousands of tropical fish and coral. This was the first time some of us had ever been snorkeling and was the highlight of the day for most. Exhausted from swimming, we paddled back across the bay and returned to our vans.
